From “Funeral” by John D. Sheridan

When my lips can no longer say
Pater Noster or last Ave,
When my eyes can no longer see
Crucifix or rosary,
Plead for me Mary, then and stand
Advocate at the King’s right hand;
Comfort me Mary, then and keep
The shadows from me as I fall asleep.
Earth to earth,
Flesh to sod,
Breath to the winds,
And soul to God.
